The Lovehoney Bondage Tape, designed to stick to itself and stay stuck, is a welcomed addition to my kit. Believe it or not, I don’t always want to truss someone up in rope.

Lovehoney Bondage Tape is made of PVC and costs £5 for 20m. I first took the plunge and bought bondage tape a few years ago, thinking that for £7 you can’t really go wrong. Also, it’s shiny, and I like shiny things. The tape arrived in discreet packaging – a LoveHoney trait very much appreciated and wrapped in cardboard packaging as pictured below.
Please Note: This bondage tape contains latex. It would not be suitable for someone with a sensitivity or allergy to latex. Like with anything, please test it out first!
Opinions
Designed to stick to itself, Lovehoney Bondage Tape is secure, non-sticky, doesn’t leave a residue when removed (on skin or furniture), won’t pull hairs from your skin, and does the job no matter where you place it. You can also use the tape to create entire outfits – something I hope to try out soon. Apparently, you can also use it as a gag or a blindfold, but I’m not too keen on that idea, considering it’s got quite a plastic smell to it.
Is the tape reusable? I can see why some would say that, but what they don’t say is that you have to be extremely careful when removing it. It’s easy (sometimes infuriatingly) for the tape to stick to itself. Trust me, picking apart tape that’s designed to stick to itself is not something you want to spend an age doing when it’s easy enough to pick up another roll for £7.
Impressions
Let’s start with some things I’ve noticed during use. I’ve trussed people (more than a few people) up in bondage tape and used it on myself.
For me, the appeal of the tape is that it’s quick and doesn’t require a lot of fuss. So, when I want to tie someone up, I can. It’s also perfect for when I want something a little different or don’t want to move my restraint system around. I can secure the tape to most surfaces – though it’s not the best at sticking to other objects. Attaching it to a chair or a bed is secure as long as you attach the tape to itself again, but it’s likely to move about if any amount of wriggling happens. On a similar note, it does occasionally come unstuck, so that’s something to keep an eye on if you’re playing for a long period of time.
Prolonged use of the tape can also make you get a bit sweaty – not wearing a latex catsuit sweaty, just your standard doing the washing up with rubber gloves on. And, if you want to secure a Hitachi to someone, this tape won’t work – unless there’s some secret trick I’m yet to discover. Your best bet is to stick to rope, or harnesses that hold vibrating toys.
It’s not as secure as rope or handcuffs, purely in tying hands and feet to objects sense, but it does work well at getting a skin-tight grip. If you’re looking to completely immobilise someone in that way, rope or other restraints would work better. However, if you want to wrap someone up like a mummy, it’s perfect and not as fiddly as cling film! Though sometimes it can get a bit fiddly – it folds back on itself due to how pliable the material is. And, as you’d expect, the tape has a bit of a crinkling sound – it is PVC, after all.
Nitpicking aside, I’ve used this tape more times than I can count. It’s perfect if you’re new to bondage, aren’t too confident or don’t have the money for cuffs. And, it’s also great if you don’t have the experience of tying someone up with rope. Plus, quick to attach to itself, doesn’t add too much pressure on the skin (so long as you don’t pull it crazy tight and cut off circulation), and it doesn’t leave marks that stick around like rope or metal handcuffs. A big drawing point is that it’s extremely portable and unassuming when tucked away in your luggage.
You will need scissors to cut it, both off the skin and off the roll. Tearing it doesn’t work and will only stretch the tape and make you frustrated. I recommend using EMT shears to cut anything off that’s close to the skin, it’s safer, and the shears will cut through anything. Theoretically, you could use teeth to tear it, but I wouldn’t recommend it.

- Great for beginners and the more experienced.
- It comes in multiple colours.
Negatives
- Not reusable.
- Sometimes fiddly.
- It can cause an allergic reaction.
Summary
Though there are a bunch of cons to using the Lovehoney Bondage Tape, I love it. I always have two to three rolls on hand. It is a staple in both my personal and professional kit. Whilst not suitable for all, I like having something that will do the job it’s made for, without much fuss.
Note: Always make sure to keep bondage scissors handy! Good for rope and tape – they’re the same scissors EMTs use in emergencies and protect the skin whilst cutting through clothes.
